Professional reviews:

Decanter (Ian D’Agata): “Intensely aromatic red cherry, spices and both red and dark fruits on the nose and palate. Very deep and complex with polished tannins and outstanding length. Knockout wine, and still remarkably youthful. Tasted at the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter Shanghai in November 2015.”  95/100 pts

Wine Spectator: “Chateau Musar was founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar in Ghazir, Lebanon in an 18th century castle high in the Bekka valley. Surrounding mountains, which run parallel to the Mediterranean coast, shelters the vines. Long, mild summers ripen the grapes fully, yielding brilliant fruit while maintaining the acidic potential of the wine. The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Cinsault. The blend varies depending on the vintage, but it usually includes 50 – 80 % Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance made up of the other two grapes. The wine spends three years aging in bulk, one year of which is in Nevers oak, and then up to four years in bottle before being released in its 7th year. 1991 Vintage: This is a stunning wine – ripe, rounded and intense. The aromatics include cinnamon, ginger and strawberry jam. The palate shows spiced plum and black fruit leading to a nutty vanilla finish, with a wonderful, lingering aftertaste.”
