Wine Advocate: “Daniel Wagner’s almost tropical-flavored 2013 Siefersheimer Höllenberg Riesling trocken GG was picked October 17-18, with 90-96° Oechsle and fermented partly in stainless steel, partly in a traditional Stückfass and in a 600-liter barrel of German oak which initially shines persistently through this deep, ripe, intense and elegant cru from the best and oldest Höllberg parcels located on extremely stony gravel and clay soils on a sub-soil of porphyry rock. Invitingly intense and complex on the nose with aromas of red skinned apples, apricots, peach and passion fruit aromas, along with a delicate and refreshing minerality in the background. This is a clear, rich and full-bodied Riesling with a lovely piquant acidity and a lingering salinity. Still somewhat austere at the moment, this complex, rather powerful and very elegant wine is on the right path and has very good potential for better integrated oak with time.” 92/100 pts
