Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (Stephan Reinhardt): “The 2014 Goldtröpfchen Spätlese #14 (Versteigerung) is a selection from the bottom of the cru that delivers very small grapes and berries, and normally gives great Auslese Rieslings; but in 2014, Johannes considered the result as too lean and auctioned the wine as Spätlese. The wine opens with a very clear and aromatic, yet elegant, coolish and precise nose that displays flinty-flavored tropical aromas such as passion fruit, mango and mirabelle plum. On the palate, this is a beautifully elegant and refined Spätlese of great elegance. The wine is provided with a round and lush fruit, and a rather smooth acidity that gives a lush but piquant finish. This beautifully light but intense and sensual Spätlese was auctioned in Trier for about 35 Euros plus taxes. – Stephan Reinhardt” 94/100 pts
