“If I were going to pick a wine to demonstrate to somebody who was unfamiliar with Riesling what it is that makes this grape’s potential so special, I’d choose this one”

Professional reviews:

Stuart Pigott (Jamessuckling.com): “Rather closed, but already there’s a rather exciting combination of citrusy fruit, delicate herbal-earthy character and a crisp finish. Hidden depth that needs until 2018 to fully reveal itself.” 92/100 pts

Vinous: “This cask-raised village-level cuvée brings together fruit from young vines in the Kirchenstück with fruit from the Sonnenberg, which lies on the other side of the village. A sweeter sense of ripe fruit prevails than in the basic Gutsriesling; coolingly green-herb-infused white peach and pear join fresh lemon, while at the same time there is an even more vivid, active impression of chalky and stony impingement, along with mouthwatering marine salinity and a mussel-like sense of nutty meatiness. A polished feel is allied to a fine sense of animation. Fresh almond adds to the appeal of this wine’s gorgeously multifaceted finish. As distinctive and site-typical as this bottling is, I also concurred with Carolin Gillot when she said, ‘If I were going to pick a wine to demonstrate to somebody who was unfamiliar with Riesling what it is that makes this grape’s potential so special, I’d choose this one.'” 92/100 pts
