Professional reviews:

Stuart Pigott (Jamessuckling.com): “A deep and mysterious nose that’s also got a lot of of ripe yellow fruit (including some durian). This has some major power. The finish doesn’t want to stop. If it was just a bit more subtle, it would score even higher! Best from 2018 through 2025.” 93/100 pts

Mosel Fine Wines (David Rayer & Jean Fisch): “The 2016er Wintricher was made from 40 year-old vines and declassified fruit from old vines in the Ohligsberg and stopped its fermentation at 6 g/l of residual sugar, i.e. within legally dry levels. The wine offers a gorgeous nose of grapefruit, cassis, pear, cinnamon and smoke. The wine is medium-bodied on the palate but builds towards the smooth and quite herbal and spicy finish. This will need a few years to develop its full potential. 2021-2031” 91/100 pts

Vinous (David Schildknecht): “Originating in the Ohligsberg (because that’s where all of Julian Haart’s vines in Wintrich are located), this is labeled solely with the communal name so as to respect the corresponding “grand cru” bottling. Zesty grapefruit and orange are tinged with piquant seeds, pungent sage and incisive cress for a tactilely aggressive performance buffered by oiliness of texture and no doubt also sheer extract. A dark, baritonal, ore-like, faintly peaty undertone distinguishes the persistently juicy but glowingly piquant finish. ‘The berries for this were all perfectly healthy, deep green-gold and thinskinned, noted Haart” 90/100 pts
